The Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG is a former Justice of the High Court (1996-2009). When he retired from the High Court, he was Australia’s longest serving judge.
An Anglican, Michael has been an indefatigable defender of secular government, stating: “The principle of secularism is one of the greatest developments in human rights in the world. We must safeguard and protect it, for it can come under threat in contemporary Australia.”
Michael previously served as Chair of the Australian Law Reform Commission (1975-84). He has also undertaken international activities for the United Nations, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the OECD and the Global Fund Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
He is a patron of the Rationalist Society of Australia.
